				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>(NaturalNews) The two-year anniversary of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster is rapidly approaching, and the waters around the crippled plant are still highly contaminated with radiation, according to new reports. A fish caught as part of an ongoing <i>Tokyo Electric Power Company</i> (TEPCO) seafood monitoring program recently tested at levels of 254,000 becquerels per kilogram (Bq/kg) of radioactive cesium, or roughly 2,540 times higher than the maximum legal limit of 100 Bq/kg established by the government for seafood.
<p>The contaminated fish, which has been dubbed &#8220;Mike the Murasai,&#8221; was caught in ocean waters fairly close to the shuttered plant nearly 24 months after the catastrophe, raising fresh concerns about the safety of seafood off the coast of Japan. Though the fish itself did not show visible signs of deformation or other radiation-induced damage, according to reports, the level of radiation detected in its tissue is high enough to suggest that the Fukushima plant is more than likely still releasing extremely high levels of nuclear radiation directly into the ocean.</p>
<p>In response, TEPCO says it is planning to install an extensive series of nets beneath the surface of the waters surrounding the still-damaged plant, which will cover a radius of about 20 kilometers, or roughly 12.5 miles. This netting is intended to trap other contaminated fish and prevent them from migrating too far from the plant. Many experts worry that deposits of radioactive cesium and other nuclear chemicals are continuing to build up on the ocean floor, and that Murasai, which are feeder fish for other sea species, will inadvertently contaminate other fish species, and potentially even fisheries.</p>
<p>The high levels of radiation detected in Mike the Murasai would not necessarily be as big of a concern if they were less than previously detected levels. But according to reports, the 254,000 Bq/kg of cesium identified is nearly 10 times higher than the amount detected in scorpion fish caught last August, suggesting that radiation pollution is increasing in the area, despite continued reassurances by TEPCO and government officials that the situation is under control.
<p>It was also confirmed back in November by the <i>Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution</i> (WHOI), an independent oceanographic research institution based in the U.S., that nearly half of all sea creatures living in the waters near the Fukushima plant are still contaminated with levels of radioactive cesium that greatly exceed government safety limits. And as the radioactive particles continue to sink in ocean waters, the problem is only expected to worsen, particularly for bottom-feeding fish.</p>
<p>&#8220;We can&#8217;t sell any of these fish,&#8221; explained Kozo Endo, a local fisherman, about the dire situation. &#8220;We can only catch them for radiation sampling. Those that are left over &#8212; well, all of us working on the boat take them home to eat.&#8221;</p>
<p>Both TEPCO and the Japanese government continue to change their respective stories surrounding the disaster. In the past, the two entities tried to deny that Fukushima was still leaking radiation into the ocean. After this was shown to be false, they then tried to claim that radiation levels were minimal, and that particles were sinking into the ocean floor where they would be unable to cause further damage. Now, the story has changed again, and TEPCO is allegedly taking more drastic measures to contain radioactive fish.</p>

<p>In a 21 year period, the U.S. cesarean rate rose from 4.5 percent in 1965 to 24.1 percent in 1986.
<p>In 2001, cesarean section was the most common ob-gyn surgical procedure. Approximately four million births occur annually in America. 24 percent (960,000) are delivered by cesarean section. In perspective, the Netherlands perform cesarean section on eight percent of births, suggesting 640,000 cesarean sections in America are absolutely unnecessary. This high risk mutilating approach to birth has a postoperative morbidity rate of 35.7 percent. The establishment&#8217;s procedure for birth has a morbidity rate 20 times greater than a natural vaginal birth. So why is the natural way going by the wayside in America-</p>
<p>Maybe Americans act on fear and trust the safety net of a surgical option- Maybe drugs and cesareans are a convenient option for mothers and doctors to schedule birth and drug down symptoms- Maybe the drug approach to birth altogether is rousing side effects inside women, forcing the inevitable cesarean section as a last false hope- Maybe there&#8217;s some other power assisting the increase in drugs, surgery, and death-It seems like the government is assisting the American medical establishment. With certain state laws prohibiting natural childbirth by midwife, it seems Americans are being herded toward the establishment&#8217;s medieval birthing approach, whether they like it or not.
<p>Alabama, Georgia, DC, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and South Dakota all outlaw midwife practice. Many other states restrict midwifery, making natural birth a tough route to pursue. With midwifes being illegal, they become criminals, and the natural birth process becomes a black market. This leaves many people to believe the right and safe way is the establishment&#8217;s way, even though it remains the dark and dangerous way.</p>
<p>Now is the time for Americans to rethink who they trust. American philosophy on health will change. Nutrition and home birth is the future. The drugging and mutilating cannot go on forever. The establishment, protected by government &#8216;safety&#8217; standards and licenses, is a scam.</p>
<p>According to Frank A. Oski, MD, &#8220;$13 to $20 billion can be saved every year in health care costs by developing midwifery care, making childbirth less of a medical procedure. The cost of all the unnecessary cesareans alone done in 1991 added up to more than $1.3 billion.&#8221; He says, &#8220;A shared maternity care system would lower the cost for childbirth by roughly 40 percent, or $13.143 billion.&#8221;
<p>Child birth is not a disease. It&#8217;s a natural process that should not be treated with drugs and surgery. Americans shouldn&#8217;t fear the natural process. They should embrace it.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>(NaturalNews) A cascade of reports emanating from the White House since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in December make it clear that President Obama, despite a pledge in 2008 not to come after firearms, plans to make gun control one of his second-term cornerstones.
<p>A report in the <i>Washington Post</i> Jan. 6 laid bare his strategy: The president plans to use a combination of methods to coerce, cajole, pressure and circumvent in order to enact &#8220;a far broader and more comprehensive approach to curbing the nation&#8217;s gun violence than simply reinstating an expired ban on assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition, according to multiple people involved in the administration&#8217;s discussions.&#8221;</p>
<p>So much talk of new gun control regulations &#8211; despite a U.S. Supreme Court ruling last June striking down Washington, D.C.&#8217;s handgun ban while reaffirming the Second Amendment&#8217;s individual right to keep and bear arms &#8211; has led to record gun and ammunition sales as panicky Americans seek to stock up ahead of new laws and regulations that may be on the horizon.</p>
<p><b>&#8216;The right to be armed shall not be questioned&#8217;</b></p>
<p>But others are taking a different tack altogether, like officials in Gilberton, Pa., a small burough in Schuylkill County. Though the town only boasts a population of a little more than 820, the top law enforcement official there is making a big, bold statement.</p>
<p>Police Chief Mark Kessler has written what he calls a <i>Second Amendment Preservation</i> ordinance that he plans to introduce to the town council during its Jan. 24 meeting. If adopted, the ordinance would require the city to &#8220;enact any and all measures as may be necessary&#8221; to prevent any violations of the Second Amendment by any federal, state or local government or entity.</p>
<p>Besides formally recognizing the Constitution&#8217;s guarantee of an individual right to keep and bear arms, Kessler has noted the additional protections afforded by the state constitution also specifically recognize the &#8220;Right to Bear Arms&#8221; under Section 21.</p>
<p>&#8220;The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned,&#8221; the section reads.</p>
<p>In addition, Kessler&#8217;s proposal would require the local government to nullify &#8220;all federal, state or local acts in violation of the Second Amendment&#8221; and declare them to be invalid within Gilberton Borough limits, according to <i>InfoWars.com</i>.</p>
<p>Nullification of federal statutes deemed unconstitutional by states comes from the Tenth Amendment, say legal experts, which defers all powers not specifically granted to the federal government by the Constitution to the states and the American people.</p>
<p>In an email to <i>InfoWars.com</i>, Kessler said he didn&#8217;t expect that his ordinance would &#8220;do much&#8221; beyond sending a message to those in the media and in the nation&#8217;s capital. Nevertheless, he said he felt it was important to make a stand in defense of lawful, constitutional gun owners.</p>
<p>Still, some argue a much more widespread effort by local cities and counties &#8211; and perhaps even entire state legislatures &#8211; to push back against new gun control measures like those favored by the president and his supporters would be effective at stopping them.</p>
<p><b>Several measures are being considered</b></p>
<p>Currently, a working group directed by Obama and led by Vice President Joe Biden is formulating a package of policy and legislative recommendations to present to the president this month.</p>
<p>&#8220;Once Obama&#8217;s proposals are set, he plans to lead a public-relations offensive to generate popular support,&#8221; the <i>Washington Post</i> reported.</p>
<p>Potential recommendations include:</p>
<p>&#8211; Reinstate the 1994 assault weapons ban, with its additional ban on high-capacity magazines (anything over 10 rounds);</p>
<p>&#8211; Strengthen the 1994 ban by enlarging the list of weapons, which could include more specific types of semi-automatic rifles along with some handguns and even some shotguns;</p>
<p>&#8211; Require background checks for any and all weapons purchased from dealers at gun shows and private individuals;</p>
<p>&#8211; Enlist support from large retailers like Wal-Mart by writing rules and regulations that would ultimately benefit their businesses while hurting smaller gun shops, such as closing the so-called &#8220;gun show loophole,&#8221; which could drive up retail sales.</p>
<p>&#8220;They are very clearly committed to looking at this issue comprehensively,&#8221; said Dan Gross, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.</p>
<p>Obama knows that legislatively, he faces a Republican-controlled House that just lost a bruising political and public-relations battle with him over taxes and, therefore, that he stands little chance of ramming through sweeping new laws that would likely face constitutional challenges anyway. Still, the president, as head of the Executive Branch and the agencies that fall under it, does have some options, which would include changes in policy, new regulatory requirements and executive orders. Though he does not face reelection, Democrats in the House and Senate do, so he will have to be mindful of their political futures when considering any new rules and regulations.</p>
<p>All that said, it is a safe bet to say that <i>some</i> form of new gun measures will be forthcoming. Nullification is one way to fight even those.</p>
